"The Dolls" Feature Film — Post Production Status
The film was shot back in October and December but I never really got to the post stage until the last few months.
My personal life of bills, freelance work, and debts was a bit of a mess. That's the price you pay for pursing your dream job. You have to make a lot of sacrifices, and it catches up. So I pretty much had to go on hold with the film until recently.
I post on my socials almost everyday, because you can't just turn up when you have a finished the film, or when you're crowdfunding for money, but the reality is, the film was standing still for the first few months of the year.
It's different if there was a budget to shoot and finish the film, but there was only a budget to get the film shot, and of course I never pay anything to myself from that. I Can't afford me. ha!
So I have had to save up for six months to fund the post work. I got some generous contributions to help in the post work, but the post work is pretty much the same again what the film cost to shoot.
FINISH & RELEASE TIME LINE
I'm aiming to finish the film by the end of July. The film will be finished but I still have quite a few Ai SFX shots to do, and they're going to be more expensive than I thought.
If I save up money to do these shots, it might be another couple of months before it's complete. So I might start plugging the shop or look for some micro investors this month, although I won't be doing any crowdfund campaigns.
Hopefully I can look at a release around September. If I can afford it, I would like to do a premiere to help plug the release. This release will also be used to help get maximum exposure to try and get the 3rd film into production before the end of 2026.
I won't make the 3rd film unless I can also raise the money for the post work at the same time, so there's no big gaps anymore. That's the goal. To keep this building and get faster traction. The 3rd film by the end of this year, and films 4 & 5 back to back next year in the US.
